I sat and read this one today in one sitting. The story was compelling and definitely had me reading to the end. I found it depressing, with very few moments of relief from the sad stuff in the main character's life,which, of course, you can expect from the book summary. I knew it wasn't going to be a picker-upper when I went into it, and I know life doesn't always provide bright spots for us. I'm sure there are young readers who will thrive on the bleakness. The characters were very interesting and the ongoing chaos just kept spiraling.
